Bio

Brandi recieved her Master of Journalism degree from the University of British Columbia (’10), with a specialization in international relations. During her time at UBC, she wrote for TheThunderbird.ca and produced several television pieces for ThunderbirdTV.ca.

While at UBC, Brandi participated in the School of Journalism’s international reporting program, the first of its kind in Canada. In December 2009, she and nine of her classmates travelled to Thailand to film an investigative documentary about the Thai shrimp industry. Cheap Shrimp, Hidden Costs is nominated for the 2011 Online Journalism Award in the online video journalism (small site) category.

Brandi also holds a BA from the University of Waterloo (’08), where she studied history and political science. While at UW, she worked as a staff reporter for the campus newspaper, Imprint, and as writer/photographer/editor/jack-of-all-trades for Inside sCo-op, a bimonthly newsletter for the school’s 13,000 co-op students.
